At least two people have been killed and several more are feared trapped after a building collapsed in Dongri in south-central Mumbai. The Dongri building collapsed before noon in a narrow, congested lane. The narrowness of the lane is hampering rescue efforts in the Mumbai building collapse.

Rescue teams are facing difficulty in reaching the site of the building collapse. Teams of the Mumbai Police, Mumbai Fire Brigade and the National Disaster Relief Force have been deployed for the rescue operation.

The building that collapsed was located on the Tandel Road in Dongri. Dramatic visuals from the Mumbai building collapse site showed locals forming human chains and clearing the debris by their bare hands. A child was also seen being rescued wrapped in a thin sheet.
