Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia held an extended meeting with Abdulla Aripov, Prime Minister of Uzbekistan.
One-on-one meeting was followed with negotiations engaging delegations in an extended format. Dignitaries considered the main directions of bilateral cooperation between Georgia and Uzbekistan. Close friendly relations and partnership existing between the countries was highlighted.
The Prime Minister of Georgia expressed gratitude to his Uzbek colleague for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia, along with a non-recognition policy towards the occupied territories of Georgia.
Aspects of economic cooperation between the countries were discussed at the meeting. It was noted that Georgia and the Republic of Uzbekistan are stable trade partners and greater potential exists towards this end between the countries. Investment opportunities in various areas were considered from Uzbekistan to Georgia.
The extended meeting was followed by the signing of an Action Plan for the Development of Bilateral Cooperation between Georgia and the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2023-2024.
The agreement was also signed on the establishment of a Georgia-Uzbekistan Business Council by the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Georgia and Republic of Uzbekistan. The document was signed by Giorgi Pertaia, President of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Davron Vakhabov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
