მეორე მსოფლიო ომის დასრულებიდან 76 წელი გავიდა, ვანის მუნიციპალიტეტში სამწუხაროდ, ომის მონაწილე არც ერთი ვეტერანი აღარ არის ცოცხალი.

1941-1945 წლების დიდ სამამულო ომს 300 ათასი ქართველის სიცოცხლე შეეწირა. 1945 წლის 8 მაისს გერმანიის მიერ კაპიტულაციის გამოცხადების შემდეგ მეორე მსოფლიო ომი დასრულდა, 9 მაისი კი ფაშიზმზე გამარჯვების დღედ გამოცხადდა.
