Oct 22 (Reuters) - Philip Morris International's (PMI) shares hit record highs on Tuesday after the cigarette maker raised its annual profit forecast
and beat third-quarter estimates thanks to higher prices and strong demand for its smoking alternatives.


PMI has invested billions of dollars in developing substitutes for
cigarettes as health-conscious consumers switch to smoking alternatives heets in thailand some markets, including
its IQOS heated tobacco device and ZYN nicotine pouches, which
are now a key focus for investors.

U.S. ZYN shipments in the quarter grew 41.4% over the prior-year period,
rebounding after supply constraints curtailed rapid
growth. The Marlboro maker has been investing to expand production capacity for ZYN, in an effort to meet strong demand.


The company's flagship heated tobacco device, IQOS, also
saw strong growth in regions such as Japan, Europe and Indonesia, reassuring investors after volumes lagged
expectations in the past.

"We delivered exceptionally strong performance, with record quarterly net revenues and earnings per share," said Chief Executive Officer Jacek Olczak, adding IQOS growth had also accelerated.



PMI's shares rose 9%, and remained almost 8% higher at 11.43 a.m.

(1543 GMT) in New York trading.

The company also enjoyed higher shipment volumes for
cigarettes, with higher pricing also driving a 5.2% increase in revenues from its combustible tobacco business.



PMI raised its forecast for 2024 adjusted earnings
per share, excluding currency, to between $6.85 and $6.91, compared with its prior range of $6.67 to $6.79.



It reported revenue of $9.91 billion for the third quarter, versus analysts' estimates of
$9.69 billion, according to data compiled by LSEG.

Its quarterly adjusted profit of $1.91 per share also
beat estimates of $1.82 per share.

Last week, Philip Morris said it, along with peers British American Tobacco and Japan Tobacco, would pay C$32.5 billion ($23.6 billion) to
settle long-running health-related lawsuits in Canada.

March 24 (Reuters) - Marlboro maker Philip Morris International
Inc is working on options to exit the Russian market,
citing a complex and rapidly changing regulatory and operating
environment in the country following its invasion of Ukraine.


The company, which garnered around 6% its net revenue from Russia in 2021, said on Thursday
it has discontinued sale of several cigarette products and canceled all product launches for the year in Russia.


It has also canceled plans to make over 20 billion TEREA
sticks, heated tobacco units intended for use with its IQOS
ILUMA devices, as well as related investment of $150 million.

Earlier this month, Philip Morris had suspended its planned investments and decided to
scale down manufacturing operations in the country.

Rival Imperial Brands too has started talks to transfer its Russian business
to a local third party, joining BAT in exiting the sanction-hit country.

July 20 (Reuters) - Philip Morris International beat analysts' expectations for quarterly profit and raised the lower end of its annual earnings forecast, as
tobacco and labor costs ease, and demand remains robust for its smokeless Zyn and iqos i one products.


In December last year, Philip Morris acquired Hay-maker Swedish
Match for a share of the popular smokeless and spitless nicotine pouches as younger customers increasingly
prefer alternatives to traditional combustible
cigarettes.

Shipment volume growth for Zyn in the U.S. jumped more than 50% in the three months ended June 30, the company said on Thursday.



From mid-2024, Philip Morris will have the sole rights to market and sell IQOS products -
which heat cigarettes instead of burning them - in the U.S., as per
its deal with Altria Group .

Total IQOS users at the end of June were up by 1.4 million from March, the company said, taking the
total number to 27.2 million.

Its second-quarter adjusted profit per share of $1.60
beat analysts' average estimates for a profit of
$1.47, as per Refinitiv data.

Net revenue rose 14.5% to $8.97 billion, topping estimates
of $8.65 billion.

The 176-year old company is also benefiting from higher prices
for its traditional combustible cigarettes, after supply-chain snags inflated freight
and raw-material costs last year.

Philip Morris now expects these pressures to ease in the
second half of the year, allowing the company to raise
the lower-end of its full-year profit forecast.

The company boosted the lower end to $6.13 per share
from $6.10, while retaining the upper end at $6.22.

IQOS ILUMA product in October.

The company at its investor day said that while the PMTA timeline remains "hard to predict",
it expects the launch of the ILUMA heated tobacco units towards the second half of its three-year
forecast period of 2024 to 2026.

device, IQOS, in the U.S. to the fourth quarter on Tuesday and lowered its annual forecast for the heated tobacco business.


The pilot was earlier scheduled to run in Austin,
Texas, in the second quarter, for which the company reported
results on the day.

The company declined to comment on why the launch had been delayed.

Philip Morris has invested billions to promote and expand its portfolio of alternatives to
